On April 17 1955, Albert Einstein suffered internal bleeding due to the rupture in his heart Artery. He was rushed to the Hospital where doctors advised for a surgery which could have saved his life. But Einstein refused saying, “I want to go when I want. I’ve played my part, it’s time to go.” He died in Princeton Hospital early next morning at the age of 76. During the autopsy, one pathologist named Thomas Stoltz Harvey of Princeton Hospital removed Einstein’s brain for preservation without the permission from his family. Later, Einstein’s body was cremated and his ashes were scattered at an undisclosed location.
Thomas Harvey, who had kept Einstein’s brain in jars in his basement for 40 years, showed up & gave the brain to scientists. Overall 46 pieces of his brain were acquired. Currently, it is preserved in the Mütter Museum.
